Scattered passing showers moving in with a risk for stronger storms toward central Florida.
For those of us around Jacksonville and Georgia the day has been dry. But quick passing showers will sweep in this afternoon in advance of a cold front that will bring in dry air tonight and all day tomorrow.
The environment toward central Florida has more moisture and heating which could trigger stronger afternoon severe thunderstorms.
Rain and thunderstorms are moving out of the Gulf and will spread eastward across northern central Florida this afternoon, and could be a threat for large hail and damaging winds in a watch area until 5 pm for Putnam, Atlachua and Flagler counties.
Storms will likely stay between and south of Gainesville to St. Augustine focusing over Marion and Putnam counties. Showers will struggle to hold together across Duval and Clay with lower rain amounts compared to southern areas.
Dry air arrives this evening shutting down rain potential overnight and Thursday. Temps will be in the upper 80s to near 90 tomorrow.
